From A4 Play to the mythic forests of Fern Flower Press 🌿

Sergiusz Junczyc

Hey, folks!

Since 2022, we’ve been launching all kinds of projects on Kickstarter, and in that time we’ve built a wonderful community. We truly appreciate everyone who follows our work and cheers us on. In return, we pour a piece of our hearts into every release.

But we’re never content to stand still. As you may have noticed, we’ve rebranded ourselves from A4 Play to Fern Flower Press—and we have a few good reasons.

First, let me thank every one of you who has supported our campaigns. Without you, we couldn’t keep publishing books.

Back when I first started putting projects on Kickstarter, they were all print-and-play games. The name A4 Play made perfect sense; each game fit on a single A4 sheet. But time moves on.

For the past two years, we’ve been creating bestiaries inspired by mythical creatures and folklore—their stories, abilities, and mysteries. This shift pushed us to rename ourselves Fern Flower Press, after the legendary fern blossom, a famous artifact from my homeland. For those who don’t know, I grew up in Eastern Europe, a region of deep forests and vast wilds. As a kid, I truly believed that elves, faeries, and other magical beings lived there. Years later, I’m crafting bestiaries featuring those very creatures. Our new name perfectly reflects our focus and inspires us daily.

What’s next?

• We’re planning a $2-a-month subscription. Each week you’ll get an email packed with mystical tales—some true, some imagined, all intriguing. It’s still in the works, so we can’t share a launch date yet.

• Personally, I hope to release a solo RPG gamebook this year—a choose-your-own-adventure where your decisions shape the story. I’m not sure if I’ll publish it under a new imprint or my own name, but it will dive deep into myth and legend, drawing on years of folklore research.

And don’t worry—we haven’t abandoned A4 Play. I’m just not sure we’ll release a new print-and-play game this year; we’re still looking for the right designer to move that line forward.

Thanks again for sticking with us. We love you all, and we’ll keep chasing—and creating—the most captivating stories we can find.

Stay in Touch,

Sergiusz “Vampire” Junczyc
