Leshy
Lore
He has a human appearance with distinctive features: green eyes and long hair, sometimes falling below his shoulders. He is described in various ways, but generally, he may have thick eyebrows and a long green beard. Interestingly, this spirit has blue blood.
He is often depicted wearing his shoes on the wrong feet: the right shoe is on his left foot, and the left shoe on his right.
Legends describe that the Leshy has the ability to change his size—he can grow as tall as the trees in times of danger or shrink to the size of a drop, hiding under leaves. He can transform into an ordinary person and often pretends to be a passerby. Although he's not particularly talkative when meeting travelers, he often sings in the forest, whistles, or simply cries like a human. The Leshy moves through the forest with incredible speed, always without a hat, and some stories say he lacks his right ear.
As the main spirit of the forest, all animals and birds obey him without question. He especially likes to take hares and squirrels as his helpers, who carry out his tasks. The Leshy respects the boundaries of other spirits: he doesn't venture into meadows, villages, or swamps to avoid conflicts with their spirits.
The primary duty of this spirit is to protect the forest and all its inhabitants—a rather serious mission. But sometimes, he enjoys tricking people: leading them off the path, creating fog, or causing them to wander in circles. However, it's worth noting that he is not an evil spirit; he doesn't lead people to their direct demise.
